Guide d’Encadrement Technique à partir de la Grille de Supervision

The Haitian Ministry of Public Health (MSPP) and Management Sciences for Health (MSH) collaborated on the Santé pour le Développement et la Stabilité d’Haïti (SDSH II) project from August 1, 2013, to September 30, 2013. The project aimed to improve maternal and child health services in Haiti.

The guide for supervision, developed by SDSH II and MSH, outlines key actions to be taken during site visits to assess the implementation of health services. The guide focuses on community health services, maternal health, child health, family planning, HIV, tuberculosis, laboratory services, and violence-based gender and child protection.

Community health services are a critical component of the project. The guide emphasizes the importance of displaying the USAID and MSPP logos at the entrance of primary health care centers and community health services. Additionally, it requires the availability of three essential documents for tracking activities: the action plan, objectives table, and previous quarter’s progress report.

Maternal health services are also a key focus area. The guide outlines actions to be taken during site visits, including ensuring the availability of standard maternity dossiers, tensiometers, stethoscopes, and thermometers. It also emphasizes the importance of conducting routine laboratory tests, such as blood tests, urine tests, and syphilis tests, and providing HIV testing and counseling to pregnant women.

Child health services are another critical component of the project. The guide requires the availability of programs for monitoring child health, including programs for tracking vaccinations, weight, and other essential health indicators. It also emphasizes the importance of conducting regular health checks and providing counseling to pregnant women and new mothers.

The guide also highlights the importance of family planning services, including the provision of iron and folic acid supplements to pregnant women. It requires the availability of programs for monitoring family planning services, including programs for tracking the number of women receiving contraceptive services.

In terms of HIV services, the guide emphasizes the importance of providing HIV testing and counseling to pregnant women and new mothers. It requires the availability of programs for monitoring HIV services, including programs for tracking the number of women receiving HIV testing and counseling.

The guide also highlights the importance of laboratory services, including the availability of equipment and supplies for conducting laboratory tests. It requires the availability of programs for monitoring laboratory services, including programs for tracking the number of tests conducted and the results obtained.

Finally, the guide emphasizes the importance of violence-based gender and child protection services, including the provision of counseling and support to victims of violence. It requires the availability of programs for monitoring these services, including programs for tracking the number of cases reported and the services provided.

Overall, the guide for supervision provides a comprehensive framework for assessing the implementation of health services in Haiti.
