Although there is some evidence that Haiti’s AIDS epidemic is stabilizing, the country con
tinues to have the highest adult prevalence of HIV in Latin America and the Caribbean. Haiti
is the country most affected by HIV/AIDS outside of sub-Saharan Africa; poverty, conflict,
and an unstable government have exacerbated the spread of its epidemic.
